VEEDERSBURG - Jessie Nelson Hicks, 55, died at 7 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 18, 1976) at his home in Veedersburg. He had been ill 10 months. Born Feb. 5, 1921, in Rowan County, Ky., he was the son of Robert Fult and Celia Belle Caudill Hicks. He was married March 3, 1943, to Betty Florence Eldridge, who survives. Mr. Hicks had resided at LaRue, Ohio, until 1962 when he moved to Perrysville. He resided on Covington Route 3 from 1963 to 1974 and had resided in Veedersburg since that time. He was a member of the First Church of Christ at Muncie, Ind. He was a veteran of service in the Army during world War II. Other survivors include a son, Sam R. of Covington; five daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Madge) James and Mollie B. Hicks, both of Davenport, Iowa, Mrs. Don (Judy) Allen of Covington Route 1, Mrs. David (Debra) Hayden of Covington and Monica Lynn at home; four sisters, Mrs. Levi (Opal) Eldridge of Muncie, Mrs. Denver (Amanda) Roberts of Kingman, Mrs. Simon (Goldie) Elderidge of Moorehead, Ky., and Mrs. Elmer (Versie) Kissick of Sharkey, Ky.; two brothers, Milford of Beaver Dam, Ky., and Willis of LaRue, Ohio, and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and two grandsons. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Baptist Church in Sharkey, Ky. The Rev. Bill Wheeler and the Rev. Bill Hyatt will officiate. Burial will be in the Caudill Cemetery near Moorhead, Ky. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. today at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington and after noon Sunday at the family residence in Sharkey, Ky. - jlr
