Mrs. Martin Hicks who was seriously burned in her home south of Ladoga Monday succumbed to her wounds this morning at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Hicks was fatally injured when a can of coal oil became ignited and set fire to her clothing. The deceased was the daughter of Samuel and America Peck and was born in Hendricks County Aug 10, 1864. She was united in marriage to Martin Hicks Nov 27, 1884. Besides the husband three sons, Otis and Homer of near Ladoga and Ewell at home survive. One son, Forrest died during the war. Two sisters Lucie Anderson of New Maysville, Ind and Mrs. Joseph McDaniel of Whitesville and two brothers, William and Ollie of Crawfordsville and 11 grandchildren also survive. The fun.s ervices will be held on Fri morning from the Haw Creek church in which the deceased held membership for many years. The Rev. Elmore of Covington will have charge. Mrs. Hicks was a highly respected woman of this community and lived at the farm home south of Ladoga for the past 26 years. - kbz
