Thomas Jefferson Hicks, Montgomery County native died at his home, 702 Prospect Avenue Thursday morning at 6 o'clock. A complication of diseases caused his death. He had been ill since December. The deceased was born on March 6, 1869, the son of Preston and Martha Ann Utterback Hicks and on September 11, 1890, he was married to Margaret Ellen Spencer of Crawfordsville. He was a member of the Christian Church at New Market and of the North Salem Masonic lodge. His entire life was spent at farming. Mr. Hicks is survived by two sons, Yancy W. Hicks of Ladoga and Foster L. Hicks of Crawfordville and two brothers, Henry Allen Hicks of Denver, Colorado and Charles Eugene Hicks of Indianapolis. Two sons, Willie Edgar and Joseph Ward Hicks preceded him in death. Friends may view the remains at the Proffit & Sons Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Friday. The funeral will be held from the late home at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in charge of Rev. George Anders and burial will be made in North Salem Cemetery. - typed by kbz

Thomas Hicks, a native of Montgomery County, and well known here, who died at his home in Crawfordsville Thursday morning of last week, was buried in the North Salem cemetery Saturday afternoon following funeral rites at Crawfordsville. He had been ill several months. Mr. Hicks was a brother of the late Robert Hicks, prominent citizen of this community, and had several other relatives here. He was a member of the New Market Christian church and the North Salem Masonic Lodge. Survivors include two sons, Yancy W. of Ladoga and Foster L. of Crawfordsville and two brothers; Charles E. Hicks of Indianapolis and Henry A. Hicks of Denver, Colorado.
