Clifford Strother Hershberger, son of Henry J. and Rebecca J. Shell Hershberger, was born on a farm about two miles south of Veedersburg, Fountain County, Indiana on Sept 11, 1871 and departed this life at Lake View Hospital, Danville Ill 12:30 a.m.. Fri May 2, 1941 aged 69 years 7 mmonths 21 days. With the exception of one year spent in the West, his entire life was spent in Fountain County,. the great part of which was on the same farm four miles east of Yeddo. He was united in marriage to Miss Lavina M. Carter Dec 29, 1894. One daughter came to bless their home, Mrs. Lola Opal Spragg, of near Wallace. In early life Mr. Hershberger united with the Freedom Christian Church and continued a faithful member until death. He was the last of a family of 7 children. He was a dependable citizen, honorable in his dealings and highly esteemed by many friends. He was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 495 at Wallace and Order of Eastern Star No 313 at Yeddo. Survivors are the widow; the daughter, Mrs. Spragg; one grandson Max Spragg; one uncle, Frank Shell of Yeddo; two nephews, Gaylord and Wilmer Hershberger; five nieces, Mrs. Nina Cowgill Mrs. Geneva Wills, Mrs. Leona Hutchinson, Mrs. Orvenia Jenkins and miss Velma Hershberger. Funeral services were held at Centennial Church, Sun afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Charles E. Howard officiating. Interment was made in the nearby cemetery. - kbz
