Word has been received of the death March 13 of Robert Eugene Herron, a native of Waynetown, in his home at Newport News, Va. Mr. Herron was a retired Army sergeant major and had lived at Newport News for 26 years. He retired in 1972 after 29 years of active duty. He served in World War II, receiving the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal with Cluster. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his widow, Martha; a son, Kimber S., at home; and a sister, Mrs. Geraldine Tompkins of North Hollywood, Calif. – jlr
