WAYNETOWN – Edgar L. Henthorn, 91, died at 3:45 p.m. Monday in Carmen Nursing Home. Mr. Henthorn had retired in 1952 after serving more than 30 years as a mail carrier. He had lived at Christian Union from 1912 to 1977, when he moved to Waynetown. He was a member of Christian Union Church for more than 80 years and was a charter member of Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 435 of Waynetown. He was a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and York Rite of Crawfordsville. In 1959 he became a 50-year member of Waynetown Masonic Lodge. He was born Aug. 18, 1887, near Danville, Ill., a son of William A. and Lucy Belle Moore Henthorn. He was a graduate of Waynetown High School. On Aug. 7, 1912, he was married to the former Alta M, French of Veedersburg, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Albert C. Henthorn of Waynetown and Carl S. Henthorn of Crawfordsville; a brother, Dewey Henthorn of Roachdale; three sisters, Bertha French of Mentone and Mary Davidson and Helen Demoret, both of Crawfordsville; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted in the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. – jlr
