NEW RICHMOND — Robert L. Heide, 54, of New Richmond, a crane operator for the L & N Railroad, died Sunday in Home Hospital at Lafayette. He had been ill three weeks. He was a member of the New Richmond Christian Church and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Heide was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was born in Danville, Ill., on May 23, 1922, a son of Frank and Ethel Huckleberry Heide. He was married to Iva Brown on Jan. 17, 1955, at Crawfordsville. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Earl C. of Crawfordsville and Frank and James Lee at home; two daughters, Marian at home and Ethel of Miami, Fla.; two stepsons, Carl Reamer of Crawfordsville and Harry John of Charleston, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Nellie May Robertson of Frankfort and Gladys Ruth Gooden of Pineville, Ky.; two sisters, Velma Caton of Las Vegas, Nev., and Dorothy Mitchell of Danville, Ill.; a grandchild; 17 step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Helms Funeral Home at Linden with the Rev. Larry Call officiating. Burial will be in New Richmond Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-9 p.m. Tuesday.
