Mrs. Gertrude M. HAZLETT, 83, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday in Putnam Co at Greencastle after an illness of 5 days. Born in 1875, in Putnam Co, she was the daughter of James W. and Sarilda Hinkle Goff. She married James Hazlett, whop receded her in death. Mrs. Hazlett lived in the Russellville community most of her life. She was a member of the Russellville Christian Church. Surviving are a son, Donald Hazlett; a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Clodfelter; five grandchildren, four greats. Funeral services were held Monday at Russellville Christian church with Rev. Clayton Lowe officiating. Burial was in Hebron Cem. with McGaughey & Son Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Hazlett was a highly talented woman and was especially skillful in the field of ceramics and needlework. This newspaper, several months ago, published a photo of several pieces of her handiwork and also on a few occasions some of the items were on display in the show window at the CW Spencer & Sons store in Waveland. Mrs. Hazlett won many prizes in state fair competition for her craft. -- transcribed by kbz
