Crawfordsville, Ind – Rites will be held Wednesday for Jessie Herron Hays, widow of Will H. Hays and a member of a pioneer family in Crawfordsville. Mrs. Hays who died Saturday night in a Lafayette hospital, was the daughter of Captain William P. Herron and Syrilla Patton Herron. Twice married, her first husband was James F. Stutesman, former Congressman from Peru. After his death in 1917 she was a Red Cross dietitian in WWI. Later she married Hays and following his death she returned to live in the family home at Crawfordsville. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. John H. Binford of Crawfordsville; four brothers and a stepson, Will H. Hays, Jr. of Crawfordsville. Services will be conducted at the Bright Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
