Fred M. Hay, who would have been 63 today, was fatally stricken about 7:30 p.m. Thursday while in the yard of his home at 1002 S. Grant Ave. Mr. Hay had been employed with the State Highway Department since 1925 and was assistant district engineer of tests. A native of Atwood, Ill., he was a ston of Thomas T. and Nettie M. Rose Hay and was born Aug. 1, 1906. He was married May 29, 1931 to Esther Overton at Rensselaer. He attended the United Methodist Church and was a member of Crawfordsville Lodge 50, F & AM, and the Sportsmen's Club. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Tracy of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Marie Switzer of Indianapolis; a brother, Charles Hay of Chapmanville, W.Va., and three nephews. Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Frank Little will officiate, and interment will be in Masonic Cemetery. - jlr

Crawfordsville, Ind – Funeral services for Fred M. Hay, 62, Crawfordsville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Hunt and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Mr. Hay died Thursday night in his home. He had been employed by the State Highway Department since 1925, serving as assistant district engineer of tests. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Esther Hay; a daughter, a brother and a sister.
