Waynetown - Charles Hauk, former Waynetown druggist, died Thursday night at Lakeview Memorial Hospital at Danville, Ill., after a fall in which he broke his hip Tuesday evening. Mr. Hauk, who was 88 years old, had undergone surgery Thursday. A native of the Elmdale community northeast of Waynetown, he was the son of Absolom and Elizabeth Quick Hauk. He was married to the former Jennie Hayes of Waynetown. Mr. Hauk operated a drug store in Waynetown several years until 1905 when he moved to Danville, where he went into partnership in the Stallings and Hauk Drug Store. He was in the business until his retirement seven years ago. Survivors include his wife; a son, Hershel, Danville; a sister, Mrs. Nila Grenard, Waynetown; a half-sister, Mrs. Clyde Alexander, Phoenix, Ariz.; a grandson, Robert Hauk, Covington, and several nieces and nephews in the Waynetown area. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Jones and Sullivan Funeral Home in Danville with burial at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
