ELMDALE — Mrs. Cecile Irene Hauk, retired school teacher and lifelong resident of Montgomery County, died Tuesday night at her home on Rt. 4, Crawfordsville. Mrs. Hauk, 79, was preceded in death by her husband, Irl, in 1964. The couple were married in 1917. A graduate of Indiana Central College, she taught art and music in the county's schools for many years. The deceased was a member of the Elmdale United Methodist Church, and was one of the founders of the Elmdale Home Demonstration Club. Her home was located a half-mile east of Elmdale. Mrs. Hauk was born on Aug. 24, 1889, northeast of Waynetown, the daughter of John R. and Laura Swank Hayes. Surviving are a son, Herbert Hauk, also of Rt. 4, Crawfordsville; three daughters, Mrs. Lucretia Himes and Mrs. Viola Wolf, both of Rt. 6, Crawfordsville and Mrs. Hazel Upham of Tacoma, Wash.; a brother, Robert Hayes of Rt. 4, Crawfordsville; three sisters, Mrs. Opal Davis of New Castle, Mrs. Vera Purdue of Jamestown and Mrs. Rally Kimbrell of Attica; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a grandson and two brothers. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home with Revs. Guy E. Tremaine and Jean McCan in charge. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p. m. Friday. - kbz
