Mrs. Pearl E. Hatton, 79, of New Richmond died Tuesday (May 4, 1971) in Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, where she had been a patient 24 hours. She had been in ill health three weeks. A native of Lafayette, she had also lived in Indianapolis and 27 years in Rensselaer before moving to New Richmond two years ago. She was educated and attended business school in Lafayette. She was married in 1920 to Raymond Hatton who died 40 years ago. Mrs. Hatton was a legal secretary and Jasper Circuit Court reporter for many years. She was admitted to the Bar Association in Warren County 50 years ago. She was a member of the Fowler Presbyterian Church, National Federation of Republican Women and American Legion Auxiliary 458 of New Richmond and Eagles Auxiliary 2548 of Rensselaer. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Raymond Swick of New Richmond, Miss Mary Lou Bedford of Tampa, Fla., and Miss Myrtle Bedford of Jefferson, and two brothers, Marshall Bedford of Terre Haute and Robert Bedford of Indianapolis. Funeral services Friday at Helms Funeral Home in Linden, Rev. Everett White officiating. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery at Romney.

NEW RICHMOND -- Mrs. Pearl E. Hatton, 79, a member of the Warren County Bar Association for the past 50 years, died at 6:40 p.m. in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville where she had been a patient 24 hours. A resident of the New Richmond area for the past two years, she lived at Rensselear for 27 years where she worked as a court reporter and legal secretary. Prior to that she resided at Indianapolis. She was a member of the Fowler Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary 458 at New Richmond, National Federation of Republican Women, Fraternal Order of Eagles 2548 at Rensselear. Born July 26, 1891, at Lafayette, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Nancy A. Bottenburg Bedford. She was educated at schools in Lafayette and attended business college there. She was married in January, 1920 to Raymond Hatton who died 40 years ago. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Raymond Swick of New Richmond, Miss Mary Lou Bedford of Tampa, and Miss Myrtle Bedford of Jeffersonville; two brothers, Marshall Bedford of Terre Haute and Robert Bedford of Indianapolis. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Helms Funeral Home at Linden with Rev. Everett White officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at Romney. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday.
