Wingate, Oct 12 - Charles E. "Ed" Hatton, 73, died suddenly in the garage at his home here following a heart attack about 6 o'clock Wednesday night. He had suffered a heart ailment for some time bbut his condition had not been considered serious until the occurence of a severe attack during the past summer. Hatton's body was discovered by his wife who investigated when he did not return to the house after putting the car in the garage. The couple had returned from a drive a short time before. He was declared dead upon the arrival of a physician. Mr. Hatton had been in the real estate business in Wingate for 25 years.
Born Dec 31, 1883 near Attica, he was the son of Melvin and Nancy Houts Hatton. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge and had spent all but the first 14 years of his life in the WIngate Community.
Mr. Hatton was twice married. His first wife was Cecil Bible of Waynetown. Following her death, he was married June 18, 1923 to Hester Yew, a Wingate school teacher. He is survived by the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Dale G. Roth, Mansfield, Ohio and Mrs. WIlliam G. Parker, West Lafayette and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Wingate Methodist Church, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Horace McBride in charge. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for an hour preceding the services. Friends may pay their respects at the home in Wingate. kz
