Note: Without Max and his wife, Waveland would have been left without a newspaper for about the last 20 years or so when he bought the Waveland Independent and renamed it the Tri-County News. It was a great little paper, a bit gossipy, but nonetheless, great to have your picture when the team won or when you won a contest ..... thanks Max!

MONTEZUMA, Ind. (CNS) — Max Harvey, 55, co-owner of the Wabash Valley Publishing Co. at Montezuma, publishers of the Covered Bridge County News, died unexpectedly at 10 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 21, 1968) at Greencastle. He and his wife were attending a square dance when he was stricken. Death was attributed to natural causes. Born Jan. 9, 1913, at Clinton, he was the son of Claude and Blanche Gephart Harvey. He was a member of the Bloomingdale Friends Church and the choir at the Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of the Hoosier State Press Association and Wabash Industrial Council. Survivors include his widow, Ellen; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Watson of Montezuma and Mrs. Judith Eitch of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, John of Montezuma; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Wilhelm of North Salem and Mrs. Lucille Harper of Danville, Ill.; two brothers, Rex of Elkhart and Jack of Fresno, Calif.; six grandsons and a granddaughter. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. S. Forrest Berry and the Rev. N. J. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. today.

Max Harvey, age 55, editor and publisher of The Hoosier Graphic, died unexpectedly Saturday night at Greencastle while attending a square dance. Death was attributed to a coronary attack. Born January 9, 1913 at Clinton, he was the son of Claude and Blanche Gephart Harvey. Besides The Hoosier Graphic Mr. Harvey and his wife published the Covered Bridge County News and were co-owners of the Wabash Valley Printing Co. at Montezuma. He was a member of the Wabash Valley Industrial Development Council, the Hoosier State Press Association, Arid the Bloomingdale Friends Church, although he had attended the Montezuma Presbyterian Church for the past two years. Survivors include his wife, Ellen; a son John; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Watson of Montezuma and Mrs. Judy Leitch of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Wilhelm of New Salem and Mrs. Lucille Harper of Danville, Ill.; two brothers, Rex of Elkhart and Jack of Fresno, Calif.; six grandsons and a granddaughter. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home in Montezuma with the Rev. Forest Beery and the Rev. M. J. Brown officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery in Montezuma.
