ROACHDALE — Stella M. Boling Harshbarger, 91, died at 12:20 a.m. Thursday in a Logansport hospital where she had been a patient for six years. She had been critically ill since July 13.
Born July 8, 1875, in Orange County near Paoli, Ind., she was the daughter of George W. and Mary Pumphery Boling. She married Charles O. Harshbarger in Roachdale on Sept. 1, 1898.
Mrs. Harshbarger lived most of her adult life on Rt. 2, Ladoga. She was a member of the Roachdale Christian Church. She was a charter member of Bethel Community Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Joyce Huckstep of Lebanon and Ruth Thomson of Danville, Ind., and an infant son.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lois Steel of Jamestown; five grandchildren, J. B. Bowen and Mrs. Mary Jane Paddack, both of Danville, Ind., Joed Clark of Ladoga, Sue Ann Miller of Jamestown and Charles Thomson of Huntsville, Ala., and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Porter Funeral Home in North Salem. Rev. Ray Britton and Rev. Jack Vanarsdall will officiate. Burial will be in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday.
Note: She was a direct descendant of Amonte Matuaka, AKA "Pocahontas", (Lady Rebecca Rolfe). All Pocahontas descendants come through the Boling Family.
