Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Review 15 May 1908 p 4

The funeral of Allen Harrison, a pioneer resident of Montgomery County, aged 96, who died Tuesday night at the home of his son David Harrison two and a half miles west of Ladoga, occurred there this afternoon at 2 o’clock the Odd Fellows of which organization he was a member for 56 years having charge of the services.  Born in Ohio in 1812 during the war with England and coming to this county in 1833, Mr. Harrison had lived on the farm where he died for 75 years. During all of his life it was his boast that he had never had the service of a physician and he firmly declined the services of a doctor during his last illness.  To the fact that he did not indulge in tobacco or stimulants and that he took “physical culture and lived most of his life in the open air he ascribed his longevity.  His wife died many years ago. Two sons, David Harrison with whom he lived and John H. Harrison, of Wellsville, Kansas survive him. – kbz
