Crawfordsville, Ind Aug 14 – Foul play is suspected in the death of Mrs. Frances J. Harrison, a widow, 75 years old, whose body was found in a creek half a mile from her home which is near Wabash College.  Richard Souders, 57, who lived with the woman and her daughter and who was in love with Mrs. Harrison’s daughter is in custody in jail pending an investigation. The daughter of Mrs. Harrison told Souders that she could never marry until after the death of her mother. Marks which could have resulted either from violence or falling into the creek bed were found on the body of Mrs. Harrison.

Crawfordsville, Ind Sept 23 – Richard Souders, an elderly man who has made his home with the Harrison’s here and who was under arrest for a short time following the finding of the body of Mrs. Frances Harrison in the swollen waters of Dry branch near her home was arraigned in a justice of the peace court here yesterday on a charge of trespass. Souders had been warned to keep away from the Harrison premises. However, he says he came there at the requestion of Miss Helen Harrison, daughter of the dead woman with whom Souders is infatuated.  He and Miss Harrison were together when he was arrested on the trespass charge.  On his plea of not guilty he was sent back to jail to wait until October 2 the day set for trial. The finding of Mrs. Harrison’s body caused much comment here at the time. The police and coroner were not satisfied that it was a case of suicide. – kbz
