George W. Harris, 72, a resident of 202 S. Barr St. since March, died at 12:40 a.m. today in Culver Hospital. Mr. Harris was retired from his job as group superintendent of Central Illinois Public Service Co. He had been employed there 42 years. He was a member of the Verdon (Ill.) Rotary Club and the Board of Trustees of Verdon First United Methodist Church. He was born Feb. 22, 1903 at Divernon, Ill., a son of George W. and Newtie Sprowell Harris. He was graduated from Divernon High School and attended Illinois College at Jacksonville. He was married to Sara Watkins on June 20, 1931. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Mary Lynn) Harris and Mrs. Lyle (Dorothy) Fogel, both of Crawfordsville; a half-brother, Cecil B. Edwards of Peoria, Ill.; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Bramley Funeral Home at Divernon, Ill., with burial in Brush Creek Cemetery there. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. – jlr
