ELIZABETH BOGGESS HARRIS
Source: Unknown newspaper -- thanks to Sarah J. for this and other family obituaries - so greatly appreciated !
Elizabeth (Boggess) Harris, the subject of this sketch, was born 1 July 1806, at Winchester, Kentucky., and died 23 June 1894, aged 87 years, 11 months, and 23 days. She was married to her now deceased husband in 1829. She was left a widow in the year 1850 with nine children to raise, which she did with credit. Of the nine children, all are living except two. She was the mother of nine children, forty-two grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. She joined the Church at Poplar Fork in January of 1889. She said she had a vision of Heaven and could see the angels and was ready and prepared for the change. She said she wanted to meet them all in Heaven. 'I'll soon be at rest.' "But, Oh! beyond the unreal lands, Where all is bright and fair; We know full well these dear old hands do palms of victory bear; Where crystal streams, through endless years, Flow over golden sands, And where the old grow young again We will clasp our mother's hands." A Card of Thanks: "We take pleasure in publicly presenting our most sincere and heartfelt thanks to our neighbors and the many, many friends who extended personal aid and sympathy during the fatal illness of our dear Mother. A family tree can wither if no one tends the roots." I think that is all! If I come across another one I will let you know.
