Harriman - James - 1914
Source: New Richmond Record 16 July 1914 p 1
One of the saddest events that the death messenger has ever brought to New Richmond was on March 5, 1902 when James E. Harriman died of small pox, in the only small pox scare that New Richmond has ever had. It was a sad occasion then that no one could enter the home to sympathize with those who mourned or that the or that the family could not follow the body to the grave. All of Mr. Harriman’s family of three had the terrible disease, he contracting the disease last; Mrs. Harriman and sons Fern and Lorlie had recovered from the disease at the time of his death and were shortly afterwards liberated from a long quarantine.
