SPEEDWAY – Paul Harlan, 78, Speedway, member of the board of directors and former vice president of Electric Steel Casting Co. of Speedway, died Monday in a Marion County nursing home. Born in Montgomery County, he was a resident of Indianapolis for 55 years. Mr. Harlan attended Crawfordsville High School, Wabash College and Benjamin Harrison Law School at Indianapolis. He was named Electric Steel Casting Co. general manager in 1928 and vice president in 1936, a position he held until 1958. Survivors are his widow, Goldie; five daughters, Mrs. Pauline Rosselot of Speedway, Mrs. Katheryn McMann of Indianapolis, Mrs. Ruth DeHaven of Columbus, Mrs. Malba King of Lebanon, and Mrs. Carol Phelps of Shelbyville; three sisters; a brother; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Conkle Speedway Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the funeral home. – jlr
