Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Harlan, 83 years old widow of William T. Harlan, died at Culver hospital Tuesday night, after an extended illness. Death was hastened by a fractured hip which she sustained Oct. 31. A native of Montgomery county, Mrs. Harlan was born December 24, 1858 at Smartsburg, the daughter of Andrew J. and Nancy Galloway. She was married to William T. Harlan, August 18, 1881. Mrs. Harlan was a member of the First United Brethren church, the Rebekah lodge, and the McPherson Women''s Relief Corps. Surviving are two nieces, Mary E. Smith and Ida S. Smith and the following cousins, Sadie M. Wright, Judge Jesse Galloway of Wahoo, Neb., Mrs. Walter Cunningham, Mrs. Oscar Rogers, and Mrs. Fielding Boles. Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Friday afternoon at the First United Brethren church, with the Rev. Lorin Stine, the Rev. John C. Roberts and the Rev. Ralph E. Gronseth officiating. Friends may pay their respects, 1203 east Main street, as the body will be kept there preceding the rites.
