BENTON HARLAN

Benton M. Harlan, Crawfordsville native, died early Tuesday morning at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Mr. Harlan, a resident of Plainfield, left Crawfordsville 42 years ago. He was a longtime employe of Electric Steel Castings at Speedway, serving as a time study engineer. Born on March 12, 1908, he was the son of George and Carrie Snyder Harlan. He was a member of the Bellville Masonic Lodge at Cartersburg, and a charter member of the Plainfield Toastmasters Club. Survivors include the widow; a son, two daughters, six step-children, three brothers, three sisters and six grandchildren. Services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield. Graveside rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery here. - jlr
