A. Turner Harbison, 83 of Russellville, died Tuesday morning Feb 25, 1964 at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville after an extended illness. He was born Aug 13, 1880 the son of Alexander and Nancy Hamilton Harbison. He was married to Eva Florence Grimes on Feb 19, 1902 in Greencastle. Mr. Harbison, a retired farmer had spent his entire life in this community. He was a member of the Christian Church at Russellville. Survivors include six sons: Ralph of Knox; Clyde of Rapid City, SD; Kenneth of Hammond, Winifred of Detroit and John and Raymond of Russellville; a daughter, Mrs. Vida Moore of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife who died June 14, 1957. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Russellville Christian Church with Rev. Charles Davis and Rev. Ralph Spencer officiating. Interment in Hebron Cemetery. -- kbz

Alvin Turner HARBISON was born August 13, 1880 at Portland Mills, Indiana, the elest son of Alexander M. and Nancy Hamilton Harbison. Turner, as he was known by all, grew up in the rural communities of Parke & Putnam Counties and attended the nearby country schools. Feb 19, 1902, TUrner was married to Eva Florence Grimes of Russellville and to this blessed union were born six sons and a daughter: Raymon; Leroy; Winifred Audif; Kenneth K; John Alec; Clyde Lowell; Ralph Pearle and Vid Ailene. This large and happyf amily lived most of their early lives together on the family farm south of Russellville. Turner's great interests throughout his life were the welfare of his family, his expanding farming activities, the Christian Church of Russellville and the general welfare of the community. He served long and devotedly as a trustee of the church and was a Charter Member of the American Farm Bureau. Although a man of strong and sincere convictions, Turner was ever ready to assist those who held other views and different values. After a long and fruitful life Turner Harbison answered his Lord's call Feb 25, 1964, at age 83 years, 6 months and 12 days. He has now gone to join his beloved Eva in the Great Beyond in which he so firmly believed. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Lillie May, his brother, Oliver Jackson and by his granddaughter, Sondra Kay Michaels. He is survived, in a ddition to his six sons and a daughter, by a son-in-law, Melvin T. Moore, six daughters-in-law, Frances, Ocie Vera, Melisas, Inex and Maryola, one sister, Belvia McGaughey and a large number of nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law and other relatives. HIs passing is mourned also by his host of friends in Russellville and surrounding community. - typed by kbz
