Joseph T. Hanna died at his home near Pauline, Kansas, Tuesday March 5, of heart trouble. He was buried in the Topeka Cemetery on Thursday afternoon in Mrs. J.W. Donalson's family lot. The funeral was preached by Rev. A. S. Embree. Mr. Hanna was born near Waveland, March 21, 1842. He was married to Ruth C. Durham, February 14, 1865. He served three years in the Civil War in the 11th I.V.I. under General Lew Wallace. He was a brave soldier and was in all the battles with his regiment. He followed the business of stock shipping and railroad building. In April, 1882 he moved to Topeka, Kansas. He continued railroad building in Kansas and also in Louisana. In 1892 he settled on the farm where he died. He served for a time as Deputy Sheriff of his county, and was chairman of the Republican County Central Committee, also. During his last illness he was nursed by his old friend and company commander, T. W. Dunham. (Durham?) His brother, D. W. Hanna, of Burlingyme, was with him whenever possible. Two sisters Mrs. Josephine Milligan and Mrs. William Fullenwider, and one brother D. W. survive, T. L. Hanna is a half brother. - kbz
