(Darlington) Lon W. HAMPTON, 79, retired farmer of this community died at his home here Saturday afternoon. He was born near Darlington October 25, 1882 to Martin D. and Rebecca Booher Hampton. He was married December 22, 1914 to Clara Cook. They began housekeeping on a farm east of Darlington, later moved to a farm in Boone County and for the last 13 years had lived there. Mr. Hampton was a member and trustee of St. James Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Jack Jaques of Scottsdale, AZ; a sister, Mrs. Willard Anderson of Darlington; a brother Dan of Darlington and 3 grandchildren. A brother, Bert preceded Mr. Hampton in death July 29, 1961. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bright Funeral Home here with Rev. AL Vermillion officiating. Burial in St. James.
