John Floyd Hammer, 79, of Rt. 1, died at 1:20 p.m. Thursday in Culver Hospital. He retired in 1959 from the Lewis-Shepard Co. Previously he was employed 20 years at the old Crawfordsville Casket Co. Mr. Hammer was an army veteran of World War I. He was a 60 year member of the first Baptist Church and a member of the Byron Cox Post 72 of the American Legion and the World War I barracks. He was married Oct. 22,1932 to Goldie Douglas, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Donald L. Hammer of Crawfordsville, an aunt, several cousins and nieces and nephews. A half-brother and a half-sister and his step-father, Charley Lewis, preceded Mr. Hammer in Death. Funeral rites are set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Rev. C.D. Strother will be the minister with burial in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.  -- br
