Austin Hamm, 77, a barber in Crawfordsville and vicinity for more than 60 years, died Saturday morning at his home, 212 Woodland Place. He had been ill 5 weeks. Born Sept 27, 1875, near Wallace, Mr. Hamm was the son of Felix and Jane Hamm. He married Clara C. Newnum December 24, 1896. He was a member of the First Evangelical Brethren Church. Mr. Hamm, who was in the barbering business in this city most of his life, moved to Crawfordsville from Linden in 1906. Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. John Stoner, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Robert Middleton, Crawfordsville; a son, Virgil Hamm, Muncie; a brother, Lonnie Hamm, Catlin, Ill; a sister, Mrs. Opal Culver, Bloomington; 7 grandchildren, Eleanor, Janie and bobby Joe Middleton, Joan Gray, Don Whalen, Ed Whalen and Carlton Hamm, Muncie, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the First Evangelical United Brethren Church with burial at Masonic Cemetery, Rev. Bennett Fulp, pastor will officiate. - ibz
