Mrs. Elizabeth Hamilton, aged 75 years, 5 months and 12 days, passed away at her home in the SE part of town Friday afternoon at 1:30 following an illness of 3 months from a complication of diseases. Last August, Mrs. Hamilton suffered a stroke of apoplexy but recovered from that sufficiently to be able to sit up much of the time. Tuesday of last week she became worse and the end came Friday. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Logan County Ohio June 17, 1843. She was the youngest of a family of 10 children born to Mr. and Mrs. John Royer. She came to Montgomery County Indiana in 1861 and was married the following year to John Peterson who died in 1875. To this union were born four children, 3 boys and one girl. Charles, Wesley and Clarance survive their mother but Lula, who became Mrs. George Kitzmiller died in 1906. In 18776 the other married Madison W. Hamilton and to this union 5 children were born. They are Mrs. John Miller, Mrs. Newton Boots and Chancy Hamilton of Darlington. Mrs. George Golder of Indianapolis and Ray Hamilton Lafayette. All survive their mother. Of her brothers and sisters, all have preceded her to the grave except one, Mrs. SS Martin of Darlington. Mrs. Hamilton has lived in Darlington for a number of years and had endeared herself to her friends and neighbors. Since the marriage of her daughter, she and her son Chancy had made their home together. Only last summer they moved into a modern bungalow which the son had built in order that his mother might be more comfortable in her last years. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Baldwin at the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Bert Hiatt, Mrs. Floyd Cornell, Earl Cox and Royal Cox sang. The pall bearers were George Golder, Lee LaFollette, Bert Hiatt and three sons, Clarence, Chancy and Ray. Interment was made in the IOOF cemetery. -- kbz
