FLORENCE McCLAIN HAMILTON
Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal 13 October 1914
Retiring Monday evening in her usual good health and uttering no complaint of feeling ill, Mrs. Florence Hamilton, wife of James W. Hamilton, rural mail carrier, died suddenly at one this morning, heart failure probably causing her demise. During the evening Mrs. Hamilton seemed to be feeling even better than usual. Suddenly, a few minutes after midnight, her husband was awakened when Mrs. Hamilton became ill. Before a hastily summoned physician could arrive she had died. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Franklin, Indiana 49 years ago and came to Crawfordsville seven years ago after her marriage to Mr. Hamilton. She had been a resident of this city since 1907. She had made a large number of friends since coming to the city and her sudden death came as a severe shock not only to her relatives but to these many friends. She was an ardent member of the Methodist Church and was known as a good Christian woman. THe deceased is survived by her husband; three brothers, Douglas McClain of Indianapolis; Fields McClain of Danville, Ind; Isaac McClain of Franklin and one sister, Mrs. Jefferson McClain of Franklin. Funeral services will be held from the late home at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. -- typed by kbz
