Hall – 2d Lt, Mark Hall, USMCR age 23, killed in action in the South Pacific July 25, 1944, beloved son of Bonnie B. and Roy Hall of Wilmette, Ill, fond brother of Mrs. Joan Hall Dieterich; Mrs. Barbara Hall Younglove and Miss Alice Hall.  Memorial services Saturday Oct 7, 1944, 4 p.m. at Wilmette Methodist Church, Lake and Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette, Ill.

Note: Mark went to Princeton at Lawrenceville, where he was very active in athletics, student affairs and had a reputation for leadership.  As a Sophomore he joined the Marine Corps as a priate.  "Spider" as he was known worked hard up to sergeant, "got his crack at a commission" graduating near the top of class as Lt. Mark Hall, USMCR (Aug 11, 1943).  Not even a year later as he led his men inland from the beach of Guarm, a Japanese bullet ended his life.  (from a remembrance on findagrae)
