Herman Hazlitt Hall, 61, well-known school teacher died at 10:20 p.m. Friday at his home. Death followed an extended illness. Mr. Hall started his teaching career 38 years ago at Earl Park. For the past 13 years he had taught social studies and biology at Waveland HS, in addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Hall also coached including 10 years as head coach at Mt. Ayr HS. Mr. Hall traveled extensively and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also played the piano as a hobby. A graduate of Wabash College in 1925, he received a master’s degree from the Univ. of Wisconsin. He also attended Purdue, Butler and Indiana. Born March 29, 1903 in Montgomery County, he was a son of Thomas Y. and Flavia B. Doyel Hall. He was married April 8, 1950 to Bennie Romans at Springfield, Tenn. Mr. Hall was a member of the New Market Methodist Church. Survivors include the widow; his mother, two brothers, Lowell D. Hall and Dr. YB Hall and a sister, Mrs. Lucile Reddish. Funeral services were held Monday at Noble Reeves Fumeral Home, Rev. Walter Porter, officiating. Interment in Masonic Cemetery, Crawfordsville. - kbz

In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Hall also coached including 10 years as head coach at Mt. Ayr High School. Mr. Hall traveled extensively and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Hall was a member of the New Market Methodist Church. Survivors include the widow; his mother, who resides on Crawfordsville Rt. 7; two brothers, Lowell D. Hall of Crawfordsville and Dr. Y. B. Hall of Lafayette, and a sister, Mrs. Lucile Reddish of Lebanon. Funeral services are announced for 10 a.m. Monday at Noble Reeves Funeral Home here. Rev. Walter Porter, pastor of the New Market and Waveland Methodist churches, will officiate. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Saturday. The desire of the deceased was that those who wish, rather than contribute flowers, make contributions to the Montgomery County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
