John H. Hale was born May 20, 1875, and departed this life Oct. 9, 1898, aged 23 years, four months and 19 days. He leaves to mourn, a mother, stepfather, two sisters, one brother and many near and dear friends. A father and one sister have gone before. Johnnie, as he was familiarly called, was of a pleasant, cheerful disposition. He was very genial and kind to all whom he met, hence was respected and loved by all who knew him. For the past four years he had been working near Brown’s Valley, making his home with his aunt, Mrs. Charlie Rogers, and during his short stay in this neighborhood endeared himself to this people. He was indeed exemplary in many respects. He was not like many other young men who spend all their earnings and even more, for he had a nice bank account besides some other property. He will be sadly missed by his many associates. His friends hereby extend their sincere thanks to all for their kindness and sympathy shown to them in this sad bereavement. -s
