WINGATE -- Mrs. Elizabeth R. Haas, 59, longtime resident of the Wingate community, died at 5 a.m. Thursday at her home a half-mile northwest of Wingate. She had been seriously ill for six months before her death. Born Aug. 19, 1906, in Veedersburg, she was the daughter of Edward and Tamson Remster Minnick. She attended school in Mellott. She married Alpon Haas of Wingate Aug. 31, 1926, at her parents' home near Veedersburg. Mrs. Haas spent her entire married life in the Wingate community where she was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church. She was also a member of the Wingate Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and the Pythian Sisters of Wingate. Survivors include the husband; two sons, Alpon G. of Rt. 1, Wingate, and Darrell, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Delores Davis of Taft, Tex., and Mrs. Alta June Essick of Greenwood, Ind.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren: a brother, Thurston Minnick of Veedersburg; a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Royal of Lafayette, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. Homer Hunsinger of Lebanon, former pastor of the Pleasant Hill Church, and Rev. G. S. Comrie, present pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
