Guy Warbington Haas, 86, retired breeder of Hereford cattle and Waynetown area farmer died at 6:20 a.m. Friday at Culver Hospital where he had been seriously ill one week following a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been in ill health one year. Mr. Haas was born Nov 2, 1869, 1 ½ miles northwest of Wingate, son of Albert and Hester Beattle (sic) Haas. He married Anna Baldwin in 1890. He married Henrietta Rice March 2, 1941 and she survives. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church at Wingate, Masonic Lodge at Waveland and was elected trustee of Van Buren Township in Fountain County in 1906, was a breeder of cattle at Veedersburg, managed the elevator at Browns Valley six years then moved to the farm on which he was born and still owned. He retired from farming four years ago and moved to Crawfordsville. Also surviving are two sons, Alton of Wingate and AJ of South Bend, four daughters, Miss Ethel Haas of Elkhart; Mrs. Alta Record of Indianapolis; Mrs. Mary Booher of South Bend and Mrs. Pauline Hamilton of Phoenix, Ariz; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Margaret Beck of Toledo, Ohio and Mrs. Ella Mentzer of Evanston, Ill; a stepson, the Rev. Russell Rice of Paoli, PA; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Servies Funeral Home. The Rev. Homer Hunsinger of Seymour officiated and burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Wingate. – kbz
