Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Estella GUY at the home of her son, Leon Guy in East Las Vegas, NM, on Tuesday. Funeral services were held at the Johnson Funeral Chapel on Wednesday. She was the widow of George Guy, a former superintendent of the town school. She is survived by the one son and a brother, Edward Walls. - typed by kbz

Mrs. Estella H. GUY, 77, died early today at the family home, 1213 Sixth street, following an illness of two and one half years. For the past 14 months she had been confined to her bed for a great portion of the time. Five weeks ago she was taken critically ill with a heart attack which culminated in her death today. Mrs. Guy was born Jan 1, 1861 in Sullivan, Indiana, the daughter of James A. and Nancy J. Walls, pioneer residents of Indiana. The family moved to Illinois in 1874 and lived at Shawneetown. In 1870 she was married to George Leonard Guy, who served as superintendent of schools in communities of Illinois and Indiana and later professor of languages at Austin College, Effingham, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Guy came to Las Vegas in 1905 for the benefit of the health of daughter Pearl. Four children were born to Mr. andMmrs. Guy, Ethel who died in infancy; Pearl; James and Leon who is the only survivor of the four. Mrs. Guy is also survived by one brother, Edgar T. Walls of Las Vegas. Mrs. Guy joined the Presbyterian Church in Las Vegas the year she moved here. Funeral services on Wed. were held from the chapel of the Johnson Memorial Mortuary at 2:30 o'clock with Rev FG Tegler of 1st Presbyterian Church officiating at the services. The minister paid high tribute to the life and character of the deceased. The chapel was filled with friends of the family and a profuse and beautiful floral offering bespoke the esteem in which Mrs. Guy was held by her many friends in the community. Dr. Paul D. Henry sang Today Is, he was accompanied by Mrs. Adolphine S. Kohn at the console. Mrs. Guy was laid to rest in the family plot in the Masonic Cemetery with the following friends serving as pall bearers: Donald Stewart; J. Harvey Brown; Wm. H. Stapp; August Zummach; Dr. DB Roberts and William Shillinglaw.-- kbz
