Lawrence Guinn Found Dead Near His Linden Home- LINDEN- Lawrence Guinn, 49, was found dead in a corn crib on the Lawrence DeVore farm Tuesday morning with a bullet wound in his chest. The sheriff's department reported the wound was believed to be self-inflicted. The body was found by Noel Coffman, a neighbor from whom Guinn's wife sought assistance when her husband did not return home at the usual time. Guinn was an employe on the night shift at a Lafayette industry. He left home about 6 p.m. Monday, presumably to go to work. His family was not alarmed at his absence because of his working hours. Mrs. Guinn sought the aid of the neighbor when her husband did not return at his usual house and she learned a .22 caliber rifle and shells were missing. The DeVore farm adjoins the property where Guinn and his family live. Guinn was born June 19, 1911, at Glasgow, Ky., the son of Samuel C. and Ida Glass Guinn. He was married Jan. 14, 1936, to Mary E. Norris in Glasgow. He had lived in the Linden community for the past 18 years and had been employed as a furnace operator at the Fairfield Manufacturing Co., in Lafayette. He was a member of the Siloam Baptist Church in Glasgow. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge in Crawfordsville and had received a degree of "entered apprentice" in the Linden Masonic Lodge. The survivors include the wife; three daughters, Mrs. Delores McCormick, Rt. 6, Crawfordsville, and Linda and Shirley Guinn, both at home; two sons, Joseph and Phillip, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Blaydes of Akron, Ohio, and a number of nieces and nephews. A sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at the Helms Funeral Home in Linden, Thursday at 2 p.m. EST, with Rev. David Williams of the Linden New Testament Baptist Church in charge. Burial will be in the Linden Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
