Jessie L. Groves, 100, of Westminster Village at West Lafayette died in St. Elizabeth Hospital Sunday after an illness of two days. She was a Waynetown HS graduate and entered nurses training in Culver Union Hospital. She went to Robert Long Hospital for post graduate study. Upon receiving her certificate as a registered nurse in 1915 she began her career at Robert Long and served as supervisor of central surgeries for many years. After 35 years at the Indiana University Medical Center she retired in 1950. She was in charge of health facilities in the Martinsville Sanitorium for 5 years. In 1955 she took charge of the nursery at Culver Union Hospital for 10 years. Miss Groves was born in Fountain County Feb 6, 1894 to William and Charlotte Groves. Survivors include Errett Groves of Kansas City MO and Mary Carolyn Snyder, Charles Groves and Aquilla Groves, all of Crawfordsville. Memorial services are schedule for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Brigman officiating. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
