New Market - Edward "Ed" Groves, 88, of New Market, a retired farmer, died Thursday afternoon in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. Mr. Groves was a member of Whitesville Christian Church. He was educated in Montgomery County schools. He was born Oct. 1, 1886, near New Richmond, a son of Oliver B. and Elvira Jane Smith Groves. He was married to Leona Wray on Sept. 25, 1909. Surviving are three sons, Paul and William of Crawfordsville, and Robert of Darlington; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Nicheson of Oneal, Neb.; a sister, Mrs. Mae Bayless of Crawfordsville; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. His wife, a daughter, a grandson, two great-granddaughters and a brother are deceased. Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Powers Funeral Home at New Market with the Rev. Lewis Marsh officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. - thanks muches to Sue P.
