Waynetown, Feb 5 -- Mrs. Charlotte Groves, widow of William J. Groves died at the Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis Tuesday morning after a year's illness. Her death resulted from a fractured hip that she suffered Feb 12, 1934, when she fell at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Runyan. Mrs. Groves was born Dec 6, 1849 on a farm near Waynetown, and had spent all her life in this community. She was the daughter of Jesse and Mary Sayers Grenard and was united in marriage to William J. Groves 67 years ago. Her husband passed away Aug 14, 1902. Mrs. Groves was a charter member of the Waynetown Christian Church and was one of the best known women in the community. Surviving are one daughter, Jessie Groves, surgery surpervisor at Robert Long Hospital; a sister, Mrs. Mary Hays of Danville, Ill and brother, Charles Grenard of Waynetown. A short service will be held at the home at Mr. and Mrs. Runyans at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The body will then be taken to the Christian Church here where it will lie in state from 2-2:30 o'clock when services will be conducted by Rev. Cecil Franklin, pastor of the church and the Rev. IC Overman of Waynetown Baptist Church. Burial will be made at the Masonic Cemetery (Waynetown). - kbz
