Veedersburg, Ind. - Mrs. Gertie Gross, 81, of Veedersburg Route 4, died at 1:30 a.m. Wed. Oct. 6, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. She had been admitted two hours earlier. She was born in Fountain County, Aug 10, 1890, the daughter of Samuel H. and Susan Smith Ward. She was married in Fountain County in 1909 to Jesse Gross, who died in 1954. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Stone Bluff and was secretary of the Ladies Aid for the past 20 years and a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Home Demonstration Club. She was a follower of all athletics at Fountain Central High and had been honored by the students and faculty. Services were at 2:30 .m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Stone Bluff, with the Rev. August Huber officiating. Burial was at the Osborne Prairie Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Parham Funeral Home from 2-5 and 7-9 Thursday. -- thanks to Beth R for typing this :)
