WAYNETOWN -- Mrs. Barbara J. Gross, 32, wife of Homer Gross and mother of three children, died at 5:54 a.m. Friday in the family home, one and one-half miles northeast of New Richmond. She had been ill five months. Born Dec. 14, 1923, in Davis Township, Fountain County, near Attica, Mrs. Gross was the daughter of Elston and Bessie Funk Fay. She married Homer Gross March 8, 1943 in the Waynetown Baptist Church. Mrs. Gross, who was active in church and civic affairs, was a member of the Wingate Christian Church, Waynetown Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and Wingate American Legion Auxiliary Unit. She also was a graduate of the Waynetown High School and a past president of the Wingate Legion Auxiliary Unit. Surviving are the husband, two sons, Dennis Ray Gross, 12, and Larry Wayne Gross, 9; a daughter, Linda Gean Gross, 7, the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elston Fay, Rt. 1, Hillsboro; two brothers, James and Charles Fay, both of Waynetown; twin sisters, Mrs. Bettie Gravett of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Bonnie Simmons of near Veedersburg, and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Funk of Newtown. She was preceded in death by a brother. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown, with Rev. Homer Hunsinger of Seymour, in charge. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Wingate. Friends may call at the funeral home.
