WAYNETOWN, Ind. (CNS) -- Mrs. Florence Groendyke, 77, a resident of the Alamo and New Richmond communities most of her life, died Tuesday (Sept. 5, 1961) at the Masonic Home in Franklin, Ind., where she had resided the past two years. Born July 12, 1884, at Alamo, she was the daughter of Martin and Clara Van Scoyoc Mathes. She was married to Eli Groendyke, who preceded her in death in 1953. Survivors include a brother, Lonnie Mathes of Miami, Fla., and three nephews, Luther Mathes of Danville, Paul Lewellen of Wingate and Charles Mathes of Terre Haute. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Servies Funeral Home. The Rev. John R. Servies will officiate, with burial in Alamo Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home where friends will be received after 2 p.m. Thursday.
