GREENCASTLE — Lawrence Grimes, 83, of Rt. 3, Greencastle, father of Alva Grimes of Crawfordsville, died Tuesday in Hollansburg. He had been ill for several months. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church and was retired from the Zinc Mill at Greencastle. Mr. Grimes was born in Greencastle on Oct. 16, 1893, a son of Edward L. and Dora Brooks Grimes. Surviving are his wife, Floria; four other sons, Donald of Rockville and Clarence, James and Harold, all of Greencastle; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Gardner of Greencastle; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Whitaker Funeral Home here with the Rev. Jim Moore officiating. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. ---waw
