CRAWFORDSVILLE — Mary Helen
Griffin, 72, of Crawfordsville, died at 3:05. p.m. Friday, November 9, 2007 in
St. Clare Medical Center. She was born February 7, 1935 in Stateline, Ill., the
daughter of John and Lucille (Sanders) Collins. She married Walter A. Griffin
on October 28, 1953. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1999. She attended
school in Tangier and worked for Sommer Metalcraft for 20 years before
retiring. She had been a resident of Crawfordsville and formerly resided at
Charlarose Lake, Hillsboro and Darlington. She loved to read, play bingo, camp and
bake cakes. Mrs. Griffin is survived by a step mother, Gene Collins of
Indianola, Ill.; three sons: Steve (Patricia) Griffin of Waynetown, Dennis
(Stephanie) Griffin of Crawfordsville, and Rick (Alissa) Griffin of
Charlestown; a step daughter Maryanne (Pat) Valdez of Seagoville, Texas, seven
brother: Ralph Collins and Stanley Collins of Crawfordsville; Paul Collins and
Ernie Smith both of Terre Haute; Duane Collins of Covington; Harold Collins of Casey,
ill., and Otto Collins of Indianola, Ill.; four sisters: Lois Cunningham of
Covington, Jeanette Anderson of Georgetown, Ill., Carol Johnson and Karla
Stewart both of Ill. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 13 great
grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her husband, two brothers and
three sisters. Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. at Shoemaker Funeral Home
in Waynetown. Services there on Tuesday, November 13 beginning at 11 a.m. Rev.
Mike Uhl will officiate. Burial will be at Wesley Cemetery east of Waynetown.
