VEEDERSBURG — Laverne "Dick” Griffin, 51, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home in Veedersburg. Mr. Griffin had been in failing health for two years, and his condition had deteriorated over the past two weeks. Before ill health forced his retirement, he had been employed by the state. A native of Veedersburg, he was born on May 18, 1916, the son of Harvey and Fay Baldwin Griffin. He was married on Feb. 1, 1945, to Juanita Bass who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Richard and Scott Allen, who both live at the family home, and two daughters, Mrs. Judy Gaylor of Veedersburg and Lee Ann, who also lives at home, and a sister, Mrs. Edith Birge of Veedersburg. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Fishero Funeral Home here, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday. Rev. James Whitaker will be the minister, with interment in Bonebrake Cemetery. --typed by Walt W
