Darlington News == Hannah GRIEST died at the home of her sister, here, Sunday morning, Feb 4 aged 71 years 8 months 4 days. Aunt Hannah as she was familiarly known had long been a resident of Darlington, being born and raised and living most of her life in Franklin Twp. She had many acquaintances and friends to mourn. She was born and reared a Quaker and ever lived her life as such. A plain, practical Christian woman, loved, respected and honored by all who knew her. For many weary weeks she was confined to her bed patiently and calmly awaiting the end. Although at times, a great sufferer, conscioius to the last, she had calmly arranged all things necessary for her funeral she requested that Rev. Martha Binford of Sugar Plain preach the funeral sermon. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kelsey and Andrew Mote will sing certain hymns she had selected and that Pleasant Butler; Enoch Peacock; WR Lynch; Frank Rich; Capt. Pritchard and IH Butler act as pall bearers. All of which was done as she requested. The funeral took place Monday at 2. A large concourse of friends and neighbors followed the reamins to their last resting place in the Friends Cemetery, east of town. - typed by kbz
