WAYNETOWN — Mrs. Nile Grenard, 84, Waynetown, died at 2:15 a.m. Monday in Culver Hospital. She had broken her hip and been taken to the hospital on Aug. 5. Mrs. Grenard spent her entire life in Montgomery County. She was born Feb. 22, 1880, in Coal Creek Township in the Liberty community, the daughter of Absolum and Elizabeth Quick Hauk. She was educated at Patton School. On Dec. 10, 1899, she was married to Emit Grenard at her home near New Richmond. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1961. The couple had first lived in New Market where they owned and operated a funeral home. They later established and operated a funeral home in Waynetown until retiring in 1955. Mrs. Grenard was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the church. She was also a former member of the Flower Lovers Club. Mrs. Grenard was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Mattie Rafferty and a brother, Charles Hauk. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Opal Goldsberry of South Bend and Mrs. Mary Servies of Waynetown; four grandchildren, Bonnie Servies of Muncie, John Goldsberry of South Bend, Tom Goldsberry of North Vernon and Joe Servies of Waynetown, and three great grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Opal Alexander of Phoenix, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. - kbz
