Mrs. Carrie E. Grenard, widow of John Elston Grenard former Montgomery and Fountain County farmer died Wednesday morning in Culver Hospital where she had been a patient two weeks. Born Aug 15, 1866, at Wingate, Mrs. Grenard was the daughter of George and Katherine Westfall. She married John Elston Grenard in 1894 of the Wingate Christian Church. The husband died Oct 30, 1918. Mrs. Grenard attended the Montgomery County schools. She began housekeeping in the Elmdale neighborhood where her husband was engage din farming several years. Mr. and Mrs. Grenard also lived in Fountain County for a number of years. Mrs. Grenard was the last of her family. She was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church, and former member of the Waynetown Eastern Star. Surviviors include two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Alston and Mrs. Wallace Fletcher; a son, Clarence K. Grenard 8 grandchildren 25 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Floyd, a daughter Cecil; four step brothers and three step sisters. The body was taken tot he Bright Funeral Home where firends may call beginning at noon Thursday.- transcribed by kbz

Mrs. Carrie E. Grenard, 91, widow of John Elston Grenard, formerly of this vicinity died at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville June 26. Funeral service was held at the Waynetown Baptist Church Friday with burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
She was born April 15, 1866 the daughter of George and Catherine Westfall at Wingate. She married John Elston Grenard in 1894 and he died Oct 30, 1918. Mrs. Grenard was the last of her family. She was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church and a former member of the Waynetown Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Alston of Crawfordsville and Mrs. W - Fletcher, of Mace. A son, Clarence E. Grenard of Crawfordsville; eight grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Floyd Grenard; a daughter, Cecil Grenard; four step brothers and three step-sisters. - jz
